Nokia’s Smartphone Chief Resigns

Nokia looks set for a shake-up in the upper reaches of its corporate ladder as Anssi Vanjoki, head of Mobile Solutions, announced he was resigning. This comes hot on the heels after Nokia President and CEO, Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo, was forced out and replaced by Stephen Elop, formerly head of Microsoft’s Business Division. Terribly scandalous, and who knows what direction this will take Nokia in, seeing as Microsoft hasn’t exactly had a stellar mobile track record.

Gartner: Android To Be #2 Worldwide Mobile OS In 2010, #1 By 2014?

In what may come as a surprise to many, the worldwide mobile operating system market is not dominated by Apple, BlackBerry or even Android, but by Nokia. Yup, all those crappy $350 Nokia 12XXs you see in Wanchai and Mongkok and in the hands of many a backpack-toting traveler make up close to 50% of all mobile phones in use, meaning that although it seems like every, damned person is an Apple fan, in reality, they’re Nokia fans (or perhaps you just don’t mix in wide enough circles?). Nokia’s N8 Flagship Smartphone Has 12MP Carl Zeiss Optics
