China, in a move which appears partly designed to defend the local phone carriers, China Unicom and China Telecom, have outlawed VoIP. No more Skype in China. This seems like a pretty huge move, considering how many business people rely on the service wherever they go.
It also calls to mind other service blockages, which are less about monopoly and more about censorship.
Lite wonders, how can this be practical in the long run? And at what cost to the technological innovation in China?
